I wish I were a fish - video-anime - 2005-

The name of selected artist Sue Shi Lee is with East-West crossing for the young American artist (of 2nd generation) of japanese origin which I am.  Studying art in the years 2000, I can nothing be unaware of emergence of the culture "otaku" in works of the young artists of Japan today, the use of the imagery manga, the toys, the video games, the models, Pokemon, etc, the heroes of a new popular mythology.  In the same way I for a long time supervise corner of the eye this tendency ' kawaii' (literally ' nice ') marked by the pink color of the small girls, the dolls, candies, the flowers... and in spite of so ambiguous in comparison with the flourishing industry of the cosmetics, clothing and the sex, which uses for its publicity the same codes and phantasms.  I visited all these exposures, the last still in New York:  "Part of Little Boy:  The arts of Japan' S Exploding Subculture ", this summer 2005, the artist Chinatsu Ban, a Japanese woman of my generation and her elephants whose even droppings are "cute"!
